Hello! My name is Cheelop, but most people just call me Chee. After my first home was destroyed, I had to wander the land for a very long time. But now, I've found a nice new home with nice new kobolds! I can't do much, but I try to gather what food I can. In fact, I think I can smell dinner cooking now!

Take the sword, if you can overcome fear. Then quietly stride into the cover of the trees and walk away. Seriously don't investigate, find a new village to live in and live the rest of your life without anymore adventure bullshit.

Also pick up that food you dropped. It's going to be a long night.

Checking for survivors is obviously imperative. That looks like a perfectly good sword sticking out of that dead fellow's back, so go ahead and liberate it, just in case. Keep your guard up.

We could better help you if you share with us what you know. Your village, or whatever you called it, was it the only one you know of? Are there other places you might find refuge? Relatives you could go stay with? You said that this happened to you before, so this isn't your homeland or your original family, so I'd guess not... But is there any place you know of where there might be others, like yourself, who might've been absent when whoever attacked did? Speaking of that, do you have any idea who might've been behind the attack? Any evidence left behind by the perpetrators? Perhaps a sigil on the sword or something?
>>

what level of tech/magic is your world? that sword is a murder weapon, and can be traced to both "parties of the transaction". however, the fact that it was left suggests it was not something the murdrer cared enough about to hold onto for any length of time, or to form any emotional connection with.

Who leaves their sword behind during a successful pillaging? Unless they needed to leave before picking it up, it is a waste of resources to just leave it there. Is there any reason you can think of that the attackers would leave in a hurry?

Try to cover yourself with something and rest. In the morning, bury your friends, then head towards nearest town.

How do other races and peoples usually regard kobolds?

Okay, first things first. You might be able to use that sword and a rock to start yourself a small fire. Find some leaves, some twigs, and some branches. Use the rock and the sword to make sparks to light the leaves, and then the twigs, ect until you have yourself a nice warm fire. Dont forget to make sure you have a supply of fuel to last till the morning.

And in the morning? REVENGE.

Okay... the X is where I'm at. Well, where I was. That is.. the place that was just.. you know. The place I wrote A at was my first home.. I think it was too close to the human lands. Maybe they thought we were enroaching.. I don't know, I was only a month old at the time. My parents survived, and brought me to another camp.. somewhere to the west? I don't know where it is, anymore.

In fact, I don't remember anything before my parents left, again. They said I was sick, and needed to be brought elsewhere.. they really didn't like talking about it! And then they left me a month later without a word. I don't know why, either.. but I had to fend for myself, but I don't have many survival skills. I found a dragon, also marked on the map here.. it didn't care about worship of us kobolds, but it kept me around to do menial tasks in exchange, for scraps of food and a place to sleep.

Then one night, about a month ago, it called me a parasite on the earth, and kicked me right back out! I tried to plead, but it started getting all this fire in it's mouth and I left. And then I barely found the new village.. about 2 weeks ago.

Ah, sorry, I'm really talking all of your ears off! I'll keep the rest short. There's no sigil on the sword, I have no idea why it would be left behind, or who was behind the attack! Maybe it was one of those crazy people with like 7 swords and he didn't care to lose one. Revenge, um.. I'm not skilled enough for anything like that. And for refuge.. I think there's a spot, marked B, that's actually a kobold fortification I heard about in passing. If there's a safe place, it might be there!

Also, there's a human town at the southeast, at the base of this mountain range. That might be the hostile force, but I don't know.

I just.. don't know much about this world. I know magic exists, and I've dreamed of being a mage, but I've only seen little parlor tricks. On the other hand, I've also dreamed of being a swordsman, a wizard, a chieftain.. ah.. but look at me.

I'm almost alone again, but not entirely, because of your voices! You've been around for as long as I can remember, and I owe you just about everything. Thank you! I have another favor to ask, as usual, though, where do I go from here? I'd like to know, before I go to sleep. If I can. Maybe I can. I don't know.
>>
No. 320596 ID: fb10df
Well it seems that kobolds are treated as vermin to be exterminated, so going to the human settlement should be the last place you'd want to go. The dragon seems temperamental, and I doubt we really have anything to offer it for it to take us back in (if it could even tell whether we're the same kobold), so that leaves the kobold 'fortification'. The terrain's a bit rough but you've had some time to sharpen your skills and you've got a bit of food with you. We should definitely head there... it's good to be around your own people, and they might also need to be told that there's some group out there killing kobolds for no good reason.

Yes.. when you say it, it doesn't make much sense to go anywhere else. It's hard to explain, but it feels as though I have to be told to do something, in order to do it. Not in the normal sense.. it feels like my being depends on it.

But that's enough of that. I've spent almost all of today giving my thanks to this came, as well as taking enough proper meat provisions to last, the ones that weren't taken already. I'm really no good at hunting! I've taken to eating lots of fruit, even though I'm supposed to be carnivorous.. but it's better than nothing. I can't cry over this forever, so I'm going to the new home, I hope.

Maybe, just maybe, they can act out that REVENGE that's been mentioned! Or at the least, make me less useless...

>>320605
Ahhh don't tell me that! And.. I don't know why you can't remember anything! In fact, it was pretty quiet during my stay at this village, when I was just beginning to relax... Before, you helped me survive the wild, but there was no one to flirt with. Is that a problem?

Three days pass uneventfully.

Ah.. I've tried swinging my sword around, but I get tired really fast! And after I accidentally hit a tree I could barely pull it out again, and I gave up. I think I need a mentor, for this.

But right now, I'm nearly out of food. I would be more worried, but the cave should be right around here, so I've left the main path.

Perhaps after I get settled in I can visit the human town. But as a pup, I was always told scary story about humans and dwarves and elves! Especially the elves! It might not be true, but.. better safe, after all.

Now, back to looking...

Mining! Let's do Chee-Minecraft.

On second thought, forget that. Well, you aren't really cut out for fighting. I'm not saying you couldn't do it, but it would be more dangerous and difficult for you to be successful, and not dead.

Magic is one option, but also likely to be very difficult. Still, it's better than fighting.

A few other options, you could work at trade. It's simpler, and only requires a bit of wit.

You could learn medicine. I'm sure with all the fighters they have, they need kobolds to patch them up.

If you wanted to help out with the 'fighting' but not actually fight as much. You could go be a scout or something. You would learn the art of moving quickly, seeing things before they see you, and how to not die.

I'm not sure if they would let you work towards a leadership position at this point, since you just got here. So we can forget about that.

All in all, I vote becoming a doctor. It's a good way to get people to like you too! People kind of grow fonder of you when you make them not bleed to death.

You totally want to be an engineer. Long, and complicated to get there, but fuck if you won't be useful to anyone you work for. In a mine that's mostly going to involve designing minecarts and means of removing water that tends to accumulate in lower sections of mines. On the plus side? You'll have the skills to figure out how to make stuff like trebuches eventually.
>>
No. 320671 ID: 2d8707
well you tiny physich shouldnt allow mining so soon. you dont seem to have affinity with people handling, and DONTLETTHEMKNOWYOUHAVEVOICES or else they may kill you before you even choose a profesion.

if you want revenge. if you truly do. its time to pursue something that can maximize what you are, and how you want to do it.

magic is a good start choice. HOWEVER if their guard was any indicative of their seriousness, you will learn trickery and deceit. your best bet is if we could somehow get you magic, or possibly magical help.

the second best option is to use your innate small size and become a rogue/thief/assassin/whatever. with body paint, a nice blade and some quickness on your feet, i bet you can assassinate and steal whatever isnt bolted down.

since it feels like you are a kid. theres a good chance you can become a accomplised swordsman. you might need to cross train for this one, get some mining and track running going on. maybe even get exotic weapons and kick 5 types of different ass.

trading sounds unecessary. at least in this fort, unles its trading for the internal economy. crafting can net you a pretty penny but it would become worthless quite quick. diplomacy sounds irrelevant as well.

It's pretty obvious that you don't exactly have the stature for most physically-intensive work.

From gathering food for your homes and suchlike (as in what you were doing before coming back to... well, disaster), perhaps you'd have some minor skill already in recognizing foods and maybe also medicines that you'd be able to expand upon?

Insofar as we have that, going for medicine, herbalism, etc. is probably the path of least resistance. So I guess I support becoming a doctor?
>>
No. 320686 ID: a6e89f
it goes like this:

1. become a magician.
2. specialize in healing spells.
3. become a mage doctor.
4. offer your skills for a fee.
5. become merchant of healing.

maybe you'll pick up additional skills like herbalism, hexes and some offesive wizardry for self-defense as well, and be pretty much everything every voice inside you wants. I think. it's kinda ambitious, but I believe in you.

Of course, they have teachers, but why not capitalize on possible prior knowledge?

And in terms of more offensive and defensive things, I suppose herbalism could go in the directions of poisons and the like too. So you do still get variety in the potential applications... admittedly not as much of a variety as magic would be.

There might be opportunity to learn new things once Chee gets trained and settled in. As they said he needs to be the best as he can be at what he does. Once he's mastered one thing, then we can worry about dabbling in other stuff.

You're not big enough to be a fighter. You're gonna want to deal with magic or trade.

I don't think you're gonna become a Muscle Mage like Chop though. Casting FIST is not in the cards for you.

So, I suggest trying magic lessons first. If you have any talent AT ALL then stick with it.

...on the other hand, we could probably make you a very clever inventor. HMMMM. Yes, we could do that if you want to cheat.

MAGIC! Be a wizard dear Cheelop. You are tiny and weak and as hard as you train you will not master fighting, but with magic you could be the mightiest of all. Don't just specialize in healing though, be an archmage supreme ruler of all.

was there a previous thread in this quest or is this thread #1?

I'm coming in late to the party this time but after a brief perusal of the suggestions I'm going to second the plan listed here. >>320686

Also, are we definitively sure of Cheelop's gender?

while I am not keep on whoring, I should note that being a mage or a fighter doesn't stop you from whoring yourself.

In fact whoring is a great way to get those really expensive reagents, books, etc that an apprentice wizard needs.

...Can we please have at least one quest where we don't try and seduce everything that moves?

...But if we can't, then can we at least be a magical hooker?

This place is really confusing! It's much bigger than I thought it would be.

"Um.. can I ask your name?"
>"Shabin."
"O-okay."

As usual, she's not very talkative. But I'm too excited! I get to visit a real mage academy! I wonder if it has towers and floating gems and...
